DOC.03.1 / WEBSITE DESIGN BUILT AND THEN LOOKED AFTER DESIGN / BUILD / HOST

A website that does not age badly.

Most small-business websites are built once, handed over, and then quietly rot: plugins go stale, the certificate lapses, and nobody remembers who has the login. We build sites and then keep them running, because we are already the people you call when something breaks.

What it is / in plain English

Built by the people who host it.

There is a specific kind of misery that comes from having a designer, a host, and an IT company who have never spoken to each other. The site goes down, and everyone is confident it is somebody else's fault. Meanwhile the phone number on your homepage is still wrong.

We design it, build it, host it, and run the email that goes with it. When a page breaks or a form stops delivering, there is one number to call and the person answering already has access to the server, the DNS, and the mailbox.

One team for the site, the hosting, and the email behind it.

What you get / the concrete list

The parts that decide whether it works.

Most of your visitors arrive on a phone, often on a patchy signal in a parking lot. A site that takes eight seconds to load has already lost them. We build lean and test on real devices rather than assuming a desktop on office fibre is representative.

Clean structure, sensible page titles, real headings, a working sitemap, and pages that say what your business actually does in the words customers use. This is the groundwork SEO builds on — and skipping it is why so many redesigns quietly lose traffic.

Changing your hours, a price, or a staff photo should not require a support ticket and a two-week wait. We hand over a site you can edit, and we show you how — and if you would rather we just did it, that is fine too.

A contact form silently dropping enquiries is one of the most expensive faults a small site can have, precisely because nothing looks broken. We wire forms to mail we control, with the right sending records in place, and we test that they land — then keep an eye on it.

A website is not a project that finishes, it is a thing that needs patching like anything else you own. Certificates renew, platform updates land, and backups run daily on our managed hosting. That is the difference between a site that lasts five years and one that gets hacked in eighteen months.

A pretty site that nobody can find and nobody can update is just an expensive brochure.

How it goes / start to live

Rebuild, refresh, or start clean.

Not every site needs replacing. Sometimes the honest answer is that yours is fundamentally fine and needs a tidy-up, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a rebuild.

We start by looking at what you have: what it runs on, what still works, what is holding back the phone ringing. If a refresh gets you there, we do the refresh. If the platform is genuinely past saving — an abandoned theme, a plugin stack nobody can update, a CMS three major versions behind — we will say so plainly and price the rebuild.

Either way you keep your search rankings: existing addresses are mapped to their new homes so the links pointing at you from around the web still land somewhere sensible instead of a 404.

Who it is for / and what it costs

For businesses whose site is a liability.

Offices running a site built by someone who has since vanished. Shops whose hours have been wrong online since 2023. Anyone who has been quoted a redesign and could not tell whether the price was fair.

Design and development are quoted per project, because a five-page site and a fifty-page site are not the same job and a published price for either would be a fiction. Ongoing care rides on managed hosting from $15 a month, and smaller changes can come out of block time if you would rather not open a project for every tweak.

Bring us the quote you already have. We will tell you whether it is reasonable, even if the answer means we do not get the work.
